Following torrential rains yesterday forcing cancellation of all parades, at least 7 parades are set to begin in less than an hour in downtown Mobile. It is partly clouded but the sun has managed to peek out and therefore the weather is looking good for outdoor activity today. Saturday Mardi Gras parades in Mobile,Alabama were cancelled in advance knowing of wet weather saturating the area today. The city had planned to resume parades on Sunday, beginning earlier than usual to accommodate those cancelled on Saturday, but the 10:00 AM start time conflicted with church services downtown and therefore the start time was moved to 1:00 PM. A possible hate crime occurred on the campus of Bridgewater State University on February 16, 2012 when a man and a woman approached Destinie Mogg-Barkalow and interrogated her about an article she wrote. The article was about  Proposition 8, a law banning gay marriage in California. The law was later overturned by a federal judge in San Francisco who said you can't ban gay marriage.
