It comes as no surprise since Mrs. Clinton made it clear from the onset - she won't be sticking around as Sec of State should Obama eek out a second win in Washington this November. She's going to take a break, do some reading, writing and traveling - the fun type of travel, not press junkets and emergency foreign interventions failed before her crowded plane could land.
The casual observer might take Mrs. Clinton's resignation with a grain of salt, but the more astute see pepper and relish, and the glint in her "presidential" eye. Let's be blunt here: Hillary Clinton is a fairly likable person, and across party lines she has the ability and charm to win people all the way to 1600 Penn. Ave NW.
Therefore, it would make perfect sense that Mrs. Clinton take four years sabbatical and surface in 2015 as a 2016 Democratic contender. One might wonder why not Nancy Pelosi, doesn't she make sense as the first U.S. woman president? Yes and no, but mostly no at this juncture, which could of course change in a few years but Hillary is clearly the party choice.
Granted it will be a working sabbatical - an oxymoron to say the least but she will be further planting the seeds of Hillary in both literature and travel. I can see President Hillary Clinton taking oath of office in 2016, that is unless George Prescott Bush decides it's his turn to put the Bush name back in high cotton. The handsome, personable, Hispanic Bush could win over so many hearts and eyes, sending Hillary Bush back on another sabbatical until further notice. Which brings me to this observation: Hillary Clinton this year might be the best and only year you have a chance to be elected president. You might want to rethink that vacation and get a grip!
