Over five decades of activism to legalize marijuana could reach a hallmark this Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in California. A few months ago it seemed the measure was destined to pass. Today however there may have been some small but perhaps significant loss of support, being blamed on the federal government's position it has final jurisdiction over legalization. Criminalization of marijuana while alcohol has been allowed to flow freely and directly cause the deaths of tens of thousands of people in automobile accidents, has been a very sore spot for many Americans caught in the legal web of the law for possession of marijuana for personal and often medical use. Recreational use of marijuana should be compared to social drinking of alcohol. Legalization of marijuana in America is unbelievably long overdue. We trust California voters will send a message to other states, and to the federal government, and vote yes on Proposition 19. - Preston Brady III for Mobile Tribune.
