1126-North Korea: We're On the Brink of War

North Korea showed no signs of backing down on it's threat of more bombing on a border with South Korea, and China signaled it was not pleased with the U.S. decision to send aircraft carrier USS George Washington to the region for what is said to be already planned military exercises. According to reports by CNN, China called the dispatch of the U.S. ship insensitive based upon events this week. North Korea is said to have bombed a small island in a disputed border with the south. At least four people were killed. Because North Korea refused to stop enriching uranium it says it for energy purposes, the U.S. has in place sanctions that appear to be hurting the reclusive Communist nation. Although it appears mostly calm heads are prevailing in South Korea and elsewhere, North Korea is reacting in a very aggressive manner, is unpredictable and could at any moment fire a shot that could quickly escalate into a serious conflict.
