3647-Could Iran unravel an Obama reelection, Republicans hope so

Gas, not even a four letter word and yet so powerful, enough to possibly decide a U.S. Presidential election. It seems perfect and almost by design that an oil war with Iran could detrack an incumbent president and set the stage for what we thought in worse case would be Mitt Romney, but in a nightmarish scenario could be Rick Santorum, with Newt Gingrich as vice-president. Some polls of Americans at this moment - and definitely unscientific, show a disturbing shift in the Right camp towards evangelical Rick Santorum. Romney, the front-runner may not have given in to the religious right enough to sustain his previous lead. Now Barack Obama is faced with a real problem: Iran.
It's not the all out war some dreaded and most thought was not yet due - it's that other war, the gas price war, the one that comes straight to the driveway of most Americans. Iran has fired a few of it's European countries as customers due to sanctions designed to ferret out the fiesty Iran on its nuclear development. The truth is Iran does not need Europe so much any more, with Asia standing with mouth wide open, guzzling all the oil it can be given.
Gas prices are going up for Americans this summer and there is no way around it, it's going to reflect bad on Barack Obama. Iran may have delivered a gift to American Republicans it did not consider or intend. However, if Iran thinks the current American government has a tough stance on Iran, then let Iran imagine the possibilities of a future American president. If that's no problem for Iran then I am sure it's no problem for the future leaders of America. -Preston Brady III, MobileTribune.com
