5767-Erin Brockovich Investigating 40 year old cyanide spill

Environmental activist Erin Brockovich is assisting with an investigation of a 40 year old chemical spill near Le Roy, New York based upon reports from some parents and others that children at a nearby school have mysterious health problems that could be related. Although the cyanide was recovered, a solvent used in the cleanup - trichloroethene- may have seeped into the ground and been transported through water systems and soil vapor intrusion through cracks in building foundations and other air passages. Some children have mysterious symptoms such as facial tics and personality issues that could be related to the spill. The cyanide spill was the result a a train derailment, a danger that is still not fully absorbed by an American public.
